An admirable achievement

At Habitat for Humanity Victoria we believe that everyone deserves a decent place to live.

We couldn’t do what we do without the support we receive from the people that volunteer their time to help us build homes, communities and hope. Most recently, one of our most generous supporters was recognised by the Habitat for Humanity Australia Board.

Robert McLauchlan, the Chairman of our Victoria Board was awarded the prestigious Meritorious Service Award which recognises the significant and substantial contribution to the achievement of the Habitat for Humanity mission and vision in Australia that Robert has made over the years.

Here is an excerpt from their recognition:

‘In making the award, the Board noted your significant and outstanding support of the Habitat for Humanity Victoria Board as Chair since 2011. You have been involved in so many of the HFHV activities and projects including as a strong member of the Yea Heights Estate Project Committee and in being instrumental with the houses at Bayswater as part of the “World Leaders Build”, which then lead to your being involved in the design of over 40 houses for HFHV.

You have brought and shared your experience in the sector and helped secure funds to build safe, decent and affordable homes for low income families as well as challenging the organisation to grow and extend its goals. You have raised the profile of HFHV and been a keen supporter of the Annual Chairman’s Lunch recognising volunteering. Your commitment and major contribution to the growth and success of HFHV over many years is significant and outstanding and deserving of recognition.’

We want to thank and congratulate Robert for his outstanding contribution to our organisation. It is people like Robert who selflessly give up their time and support that truly are the #HeartofHabitat.
