About Us

Habitat for Humanity launched in South Australia in 1990, a history extending over 30 years. Building on the foundations laid by the dedicated volunteers who established our mission here in South Australia, we have achieved much over the past 30 years to improve the lives of South Australians in need of decent shelter.

Over the last decade our passionate staff, volunteers and supporters have:

  • safely housed 38 families through our affordable homes program,

  • supported more than 300 South Australian families to clean up, salvage and recover their homes following devastating bushfires and damaging floods,

  • assisted many South Australian families to remain in their homes and live-in improved conditions through our Brush with Kindness program, and

  • engaged hundreds of local community members to volunteer in our programs, to serve fellow South Australians in need.

As a licensed builder, registered charity, experienced manager of volunteers and part of the global Habitat for Humanity network, we are well positioned to build on this strong history, to deliver a wider range of housing outcomes, in diverse communities across the State, and to improve the lives of more vulnerable South Australians.

Strategic Plan

Habitat for Humanity South Australia's Strategic Plan focuses on the organisation's core skills and experience:

  • our ability to contribute to an increased supply of affordable shelter;

  • our capacity to help communities recover their housing in the wake of natural disasters;

  • and to enhance the sustainability of accommodation by an ongoing program of minor home repairs and landscaping.

Put simply, our Strategic Plan pillars are:

Build,  Recover,  Sustain
